This week’s featured guest Myya Jones made national headlines when she announced her candidacy for Mayor of Detroit at just 22 years old. The recent college graduate shares her story of how she was inspired to get into politics and her mission to give people of color, women, and millennials a seat at the table in local politics.

Meet Myya:

Born and groomed in Detroit, MI, Myya Jones is a proud product of the Detroit Public School system and an alumnus of Lewis Cass Technical High School. Her college career provided her with an avenue to participate in social action and molded her into a productive adult through volunteerism, mentoring, and political activism. Myya uses her many platforms to spark dialogue on ways in which marginalized groups can acquire the resources needed to advance their communities. She desires to become a contributing member of society and to exercise her constitutional right to run for office in her hometown. Doing so will allow her to give people of color, women, and millennials a seat at the table.
